Coral Gables

Founded in 1925 by George Merrick, Coral Gables was once just a romantic notion of a Mediterranean village constructed beside Miami. Now, with its lush green avenues and expansive waterfront, Coral Gables is easily one of the most charming cities in America. Also referred to as the "City Beautiful" Coral Gables is enhanced with civic landmarks and embellished with detailed architectural designs based on the Andalusia area of Spain. Merrick predicted that Coral Gables would serve as "a gateway to Latin America" and has unquestionably become just that, with 25 consulates and foreign government offices and approximately 155 multinational corporations.

Not only is the Coral Gables economy comprised of international businesses, but also local businesses are quickly making Coral Gables a major employment center with many of its residents also working in the City. With its abundance of retail shops, boutiques and boasting more than 100 cafes and restaurants, Coral Gables is positioned to support the high-end corporate and leisure traveler. The City is also well known for its four live theatres and many fine art galleries, providing the community with festivals and performances throughout the year. Coral Gables is home to the University of Miami which is the City’s largest employer, adding exciting collegiate sports teams to the City’s roster of entertainment. With its high quality of life, diversified economy and responsible growth, Coral Gables is a highly desirable place to live, work and play.
